Ipad 2

Has anybody out there bought the ipad 2? Would you recommend it over a laptop for home use?  I know that the internet browsing capabilities are impressive and that its a beautiful object to hold..but how robust is the ipad2 iOS operating system, has anybody heard of crashes happening? What about viruses - does one need an anti-virus with iOS?
